11.06.2026. from 12:00 till 16:00 in the central and eastern regions of Latvia thunderstorms with very heavy rainshowers, squalls up to 20-24 m/s and hail will develop, locally there is possibility of large hail.
The warning can be updated with the development of the situation. BE PREPARED for a very heavy thunderstorm!
If possible, immediately seek shelter indoors and follow the instructions given by the responsible authorities.
Outdoor activities will be significantly disrupted. For safety reasons, planned outdoor activities should be cancelled or postponed.
Be careful in places that are especially exposed to the impact of thunderstorms: if you are in the forest, seek shelter in a lower place, in places with lower bushes, while if you are in an open area, take shelter in a low place, for example, in a valley. Avoid being on hills, in open fields, near power lines. While on the water, try to get to the shore and seek shelter immediately.
Take care of pets, they are also at-risk of thunderstorm impact.
Disturbances in power supply, communications, and traffic are expected in large areas. If the building is not equipped with lightning rod and overvoltage protection systems, it is dangerous to operate electrical appliances during a thunderstorm - they must be disconnected from the power grid!
Strong wind squalls will break tree branches and even trees. Loose objects or debris will be carried through air. Do not park the vehicle under trees.
As much as possible, avoid using objects such as an electric scooter, a fishing rod, also an umbrella, and avoid being near metal objects.
Rainshowers will cause a rapid rise in water levels and possible flooding of low-lying areas.
Difficult driving conditions on the road due to reduced visibility and aquaplaning. Consider that you need to plan a longer time for trips.
Thunderstorms can also be accompanied by large hail, damaging crops, and plantations.
